Medical gloves

Medical gloves are used to protect the skin from the negative effects of various chemicals and pathogens during laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures. They are made of nitrile, vinyl, latex. The latter material is of natural origin – it is completely biodegradable, and therefore does not pose a threat to the environment. It is extracted from certain rubber plants, the juice of which is subjected to coagulation and subsequent concentration. To achieve the required density of the material, centrifugation or partial evaporation of water is used.

Latex gloves are:

powdered (sterile) – usually used in general surgical procedures due to the preservation of high tactile sensitivity;
powder-free – popular in the dental, ophthalmological, and endoscopic fields.
They are also distinguished by surface type – smooth and textured (for greater adhesion to tools).

The main advantages of medical gloves include:

high degree of protection against HIV, hepatitis B, C and other diseases transmitted through blood and biological fluids;
strength – this consumable material has high resistance to punctures and tensile deformation;
comfortable to wear – the gloves fit snugly to the hand and are firmly held on the wrist due to the bolster on the cuff;
chemical resistance, the degree of which depends on the type of substance.
The gloves are made in a mirror-symmetrical shape, so they can be worn on any hand. This significantly saves time when examining a patient – there is no need to select a suitable glove for the left or right hand.
